Nelson Mandela lived non-conformist to the racist laws that governed South Africa. He fought to change injustices in society and for that reason he was arrested. He only wanted his people to live in equal rights with white people. When he was convicted, he told the court that he was prepared to die for what he believed in.<\/p>\n
One of Mandela’s most powerful characteristics was communication. He was authentic and didn’t try to copy anyone’s style.<\/p>\n
He once said, \u201cIf you speak to someone in a language they understand, the message will get into their mind. If you speak to the person in their own language, it will reach their heart.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mandela’s achievements made Africa a continent with more freedom and equality. What can we learn from the way Mandela communicated, and apply it to our personal and business communication? :<\/p>\n
1. Create a strong and purposeful message<\/strong><\/p>\n Mandela did not just seek to end apartheid. He aimed to achieve a just and free society for all South Africans. His message was determined and courageous.<\/p>\n 2. Have a consistent message and express your values and goals<\/strong><\/p>\n Mandela said during his trial that he was willing to die for what he believed in. In order to become true leaders and communicate efficiently, we need to have a message aligned with what we believe in.<\/p>\n 3. Be honest and authentic<\/strong><\/p>\n Mandela had a unique style and always showed his true personality. He didn’t try to be anything different.<\/p>\n Is the way he communicates in his personal and business life clear and purposeful? Do you do it authentically or try to copy what others do?
